Yakub Sunik Launches New Initiatives for Expat Welfare: Views Exchanged with Journalists and Business Leaders in Chattogram

Alhaj Mohammad Yakub Sunik — a proud representative of Dubai expatriates, a humanitarian, and a successful entrepreneur — exchanged views with journalists and business leaders in Chattogram. The discussion meeting was held on Friday, November 28, at Sampan Restaurant & Party House in the city. The event focused on ongoing initiatives for expatriate welfare, future plans, and strengthening Bangladesh–UAE relations.

For many years, Alhaj Mohammad Yakub Sunik has been leading various organizations in the United Arab Emirates. He currently serves as the President of Chattogram Development Council (UAE), Senior Vice President of Bangladesh Association Dubai, General Secretary of Bangladesh Business Association Dubai, Chairman of Future Homes Real Estate, and Founder of KBN Super Market. His continued support for expatriates in crisis, assistance to the underprivileged, contributions to schools and madrasas, and extensive humanitarian work during the COVID-19 pandemic have earned him respect among the expatriate community.

Among those present at the meeting were Jahidul Karim Kochi, Member Secretary of Chattogram Press Club and Residential Editor of Dainik Amar Desh; Saiful Islam Shilpi, Bureau Chief of 71 TV; Dr. Lion Salahuddin Ali, Chairman of Asian Health Care Group; senior journalist Ejaz Mahmud; Jahangir Alam, Bureau Chief of Ajker Business Bangladesh; Abdullah; Enamul Haque, along with representatives from various media outlets and business organizations in Chattogram. The program was jointly moderated by Saiful Islam Shilpi and Jahangir Alam.

In his address, Alhaj Mohammad Yakub Sunik emphasized his sense of responsibility and deep commitment toward expatriates.
He said,
“Chattogram is the city of my soul, Bangladesh is my life, and Dubai is the story of our struggle. Expatriates do not only send remittances — they send their sweat, their labor, and their dreams. It is our duty to ensure their security, dignity, and necessary services. Inspired by the belief that ‘humanity comes first,’ I have always tried to stand beside expatriates.”

He further added,
“We have been working for years to strengthen the longstanding ties between Bangladesh and the UAE. Our ongoing initiatives include supporting young expatriate entrepreneurs, expanding business platforms, providing legal assistance, and offering health services. Journalists guide us in the right direction, and your cooperation is essential for the welfare of expatriates.”

Jahidul Karim Kochi noted that expatriates’ sacrifices form one of the main pillars of Bangladesh’s development, and the media will continue to play a supportive role for them.

During the meeting, Dr. Salahuddin Ali, Chairman of Asian Health Care Group, announced that a new multi-specialized telemedicine app titled “Probashi Health Service” will soon be launched. Through this app, Bangladeshi expatriates around the world will be able to consult specialist doctors in Bangladesh via video calls. He expressed hope that this affordable, reliable, and easily accessible service will open a new horizon for expatriate healthcare.

Speakers at the event praised the patriotism, humanitarian values, and economic contributions of expatriates. They acknowledged that the continuous efforts of expatriate leaders like Alhaj Mohammad Yakub Sunik play a vital role in promoting Bangladesh’s global image and improving the lives of Bangladeshi workers abroad.

Overall, the meeting in Chattogram served as an effective platform for discussing expatriate development, humanitarian services, improved healthcare initiatives, and further strengthening Bangladesh–Dubai relations.
